Support Technician


Job Overview

Software Diversified Services (SDS) is seeking a full-time Support Technician with a strong background in data security, specifically related to encryption, to provide assistance to our customers using our E-Business encryption tool and the SSH/Tectia product. In this role, you will determine severity of reported issues, gather appropriate documentation to identify root causes, and work collaboratively with developers, quality engineers, sales team, product managers, and usability experts to resolve issues. You will join an expert team that develops, supports, and sells multi-platform software throughout the USA and worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise and assistance in the technical implementation of SDS Software
  • Work with customer base to obtain a clear understanding of the issue being raised, providing temporary workarounds until a resolution can be identified
  • Provide assistance to sales team regarding customer requirements
  • Review current knowledge base for resolution of similar issues
  • Add new knowledge to database as it is acquired
  • As schedule permits, help with quality assurance tasks that may include tool building to provide regression testing suites

Requirements

  • Proven working experience (8+ years) in end-user contact to help resolve reported problems
  • Ability to refine collected information, eliminate extraneous data, and focus on the root cause of the issue
  • Experience managing multiple issues
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in English
  • Basic familiarity with the mainframe and software development
  • University degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent

Preferred

  • Experience with multiple platforms; in particular, good working knowledge of z/OS is a plus
  • Some background in quality assurance techniques
