VitalSigns for VSE provides comprehensive monitoring of VTAM traffic, response time, and memory use for all your lines, controllers, applications, terminals, networks, LANs, and gateways.
In VSE, VitalSigns requires:
VSE/ESA 1.0 or greater
VTAM 3.2 or greater
NCP 2.1 or greater
At least 82 cylinders of 3380 disk space, or an equivalent
In VM/VSE, privilege class E for the VSE guest
To interface with NetView in MVS or GCS, an MVS or GCS host with VTAM 3.2 or greater, NetView 1.3 or greater
327x or compatible terminals
IBM VSAM access method
For NCP session and gateway monitoring, NCP 4.3 or greater
For dynamic reconfiguration, NCP 4.3.1 or greater
To monitor token rings or network packet switching, NCP 5.3.1 or greater
To monitor the NCP connectivity subsystem processor (CSS), NCP 7.4 or greater
To monitor terminal controllers, 3×74-type controllers with IBM’s RTM feature
To monitor 3270 controllers, install VitalSigns on the VTAM system that owns the terminals
To monitor networks and test terminal response, install VitalSigns on any system that can access those resources through the SNA network
In Multiple Hosts
To monitor multiple hosts, operating systems, domains, and NCPs, Install VitalSigns Online and the VTAM Agent on the VTAM that owns the terminals or network. Install NCP and VTAM agents on the controllers and other hosts.
