SDS is busy with Webinars, Events, Enhancements, and New Products!
It’s an exciting time of the year! Not only did spring and summer arrive at the same time, but Software Diversified Services™ (SDS) has been very active in the IBM® z/OS®industry.
Are you going to SHARE® St. Louis in August? If you are, be sure to come by and visit the SDS Booth. SHARE is taking place at the St. Louis Convention Center, August 12-17, 2018, this summer. Hopefully you went to SHARE Sacramento earlier this year and had a chance to visit the SDS Team.
Beyond participating in industry tradeshows, SDS has produced several new webinars, product enhancements, and blog posts. One of the latest posts titled, A Mainframe Bucket List Item and Potential NVAS Replacement, is a great reminder if need to find a replacement product.
Also, SDS just recently announced some exciting news related to FIM, an emerging z/OS security and compliance area. There’s another new product announcement on its way regarding SDS IronSphere for z/OS, a product that will simplify mainframe security through z/OS risk monitoring!
If you are in the z/OS industry or part of management overseeing a z/OS shop, you need to watch this webinar…
SHARE hosted a webinar featuring Stu Henderson on June 13, 2018. The topic is end-to-end security for all z/OS file transfers, while not being cost-prohibitive. This is sure to be a great learning experience for anyone in the industry, especially with one of the foremost z/OS security experts, Stu Henderson, leading the discussion.
View the entire webinar or watch the sections separately. However you decide to view, this is a webinar worth your time.
SDS also presented the following webinar recently:
This educational webinar was hosted by CMG in May. It focuses on the challenges of adding z/OS data to your existing SIEM solution.
It’s important to ask the right questions to z/OS SIEM Agent providers:
- Will SMF messages be delivered in real-time to your SIEM?
- Are these messages easily integrated into your SIEM solution?
- Is it the right fit for your organization?
SDS reinforces its reputation as an industry leader on the forefront of z/OS technology and innovation with its new partnership to distribute SDS FIM+ for z/OS. FIM (File Integrity Monitoring) is an important security concept on other platforms and with increasing standards, is finally becoming an area of concern for the mainframe. FIM is a term you’ll be hearing a lot more about in the near future.
Here is a section of the press release that describes the added benefits that FIM+ provides beyond file/data integrity monitoring for z/OS:
While verifying data integrity on the mainframe, FIM+ offers organizations more oversight with on demand audits and an added, critical layer of protection against harmful breaches and malicious attacks…
Currently, the PCI DSS v3.2 Requirement 11.5 requires a FIM solution in place to actively monitor for changes (on every platform), which is the core competency of FIM+ (on z/OS). This product is highly compatible with other mainframe tools and can be utilized for continuous monitoring and detection, as a supplement to existing network monitoring efforts, and for on demand audits.

If you’re going to SHARE this summer, be sure to stop by the SDS Booth. And, don’t forget about our upcoming SHARE webcast, which focuses on z/OS FTP Security with Stu Henderson!
We hope you enjoy the summer and watch out for the next SDS Update email.
