VIP 7.0 monitors SNA-HPR traffic, Enterprise Extender routes, Sysplex Distributors.
It's All About the Applications!
Even the remote applications...printers, servers, socket app's.
If applications aren't working, network speed doesn't matter.
VIP IP Monitor can report what applications are running and who is using them. If any piece goes missing, VIP IP Monitor will alert you.
Printers and servers may be outside of the mainframe and outside of your turf, but when the mainframe can't reach them, the users call you.
So get a VIP IP Monitor monitor. Know what's up.
Detect, diagnose, resolve, and prevent TCP/IP problems on z/OS and OS/390 networks. Vital Signs VisionNet (VIP) provides real-time graphic displays of network health and traffic--at common desktop browsers.
Now HTTP Performance and Response-Time Monitoring!
See response times for all HTTP connections and users.
VIP: performance monitoring for z/OS - TCP/IP networks...
- Extremely efficient monitoring; very low CPU demand.
- Simple to learn and use: Let the help desk diagnose trouble in real time.
- No blind spots--VIP IP Monitor monitors the entire network in full detail.
- You get performance data and trouble alerts in genuine real-time.
- Provides easy access to graphic history data--charts and/or tables.

VIP Server Runs on z/OS
Typically, VIP monitoring Agents on any number of z/OS systems deliver their monitoring data to a single VIP Server.
The VIP Server, in turn, delivers the z/OS data to VIP users at desktop web browsers.
The VIP Server most often runs on a z/OS system, via Unix System Services (USS).
In alternative configurations, VIP Agents might report to multiple VIP Servers,
because the redundancy insures against breakdown.
And VIP Servers can run outside of z/OS: they install equally well
on Unix, Linux, or Windows machines.

- Fully-automated chart drawing for history data
- Export history data to comma-delimited files for other uses, spreadsheets for example
State-of-the-Art Diagnostic Tools:
- Run complete packet traces on any stack
- Filter trace data to display for specific interfaces, addresses, ports, and/or protocols
- View traces in real-time, as packets move through stacks, and/or save them to mainframe datasets
- Send ICMP and UDP pings
- Translate between IP addresses and domain names
- Trace routes and round-trip times between mainframes and remote nodes
- Easily retrieve complete SNMP data from any SNMP-able node on the network
- Quickly find and get the status of all the connections for a given address, application, interface
- Easily drop individual connections
- Send system operator commands directly from the browser to z/OS and OS/390
Intuitive Graphic Interface for Web Browsers:
- High-level summary screens take the pulse of your entire network
- Easily drill down to specific applications, buffers, interfaces, and stacks
- Quick access to pie, bar, and line charts for recent history on hundreds of fields
- Monitor multiple mainframe hosts from a single screen
- Built from the ground up as a browser-based product
